Matt graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science and Masters of Physiotherapy from Flinders University at the end of 2017.  Since graduating, he has spent the majority of his clinical time in acute hospital settings with an orthopaedic focus and has also gained experience in private practice. Matt has been fortunate enough to work closely with some of Adelaide’s leading orthopaedic surgeons and has seen a multitude of orthopaedic conditions.  He has since developed a deep passion for this field  as the change visible in patients day-to-day is highly rewarding.

Currently, Matt is a physiotherapist in our Hospital team working across Burnside, St Andrews and Calvary Hospitals. With special interests in Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, treating sporting injuries and acute complex orthopaedic conditions, he has a passion for helping people to meet their rehabilitation goals, and always aims to understand people as individuals.

After involvement in high level sporting programs in his high school years, Matt faced many sporting injuries. During this time, he was lucky enough to be in the hands of high quality physiotherapists and these experiences helped him quickly decide that this was the career for him.

Matt’s treatment philosophy is that before you are a patient, you are a person.  Before addressing physical components to a rehabilitation goal, he finds getting an understanding of who the person is, is vital. Physiotherapy is not all about physical deficits; social, mental and emotional factors contribute heavily to the success of treatment. He firmly believes that if he can address these aspects, along with evidence-based practice, he can empower his patients to achieve their rehabilitative goals, and maintain them long-term.

Matt’s main areas of interest are:

  •   Orthopaedic rehabilitation
  •   Sporting injuries
  •   Acute complex orthopaedic conditions

When he’s not at work you’ll find him getting away to the Riverland to enjoy the water, whether that be fishing along the bank or getting behind the boat for a wakeboard.
